A South Ridgewood Drive building in Sebring was recently repainted after circumstances led to it being painted the wrong shade. For Darrell Jensen, of the single story building at 112 S. Ridgewood Drive, the shade of white he was expecting was not quite right or white and was more of a tan. The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency approved a facade grant for Jensen on April 28 in the amount of $2,600 for painting and pressure washing. The total cost of the project was $5,200.

The lawsuit related to the death of an Avon Park student who was struck by a train has moved to the Fort Pierce Division of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Chester Pearson, the father of Malik K. Pearson, 13, who was killed May 15, 2023, initially filed a lawsuit in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court, Highlands County, Civil Division, on April 22. The seventh-grader was walking home from Avon Park Middle School when he was struck by a train.

The City of Sebring closed on its purchase of the former SunTrust building with plans to relocate its administrative offices and City Hall to the structure at 126 W. Center Ave. In February the City Council approved a commercial contract between the city and Aachener Services LLC, which owns the three-story building. An extension was granted by the Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) on Monday for the eatery Macarito’s to reopen at 305 Circle Park Drive, Sebring. The restaurant’s owner, MacGregor “Chef Mac” John Gentleman, died unexpectedly in April soon after it opened for business. Gentleman’s widow, Amanda Gentleman, plans to reopen the fast casual eatery.
