When we began, Donald Trump couldn’t find anyone willing to give him a half-billion dollar bond and the AG’s office began looking into properties worth seizing to cover the judgment. We wondered… which asset, if seized, would irritate Trump the most? Since then, Trump managed to get the size of the bond reduced and for a moment it seemed like he would avoid seizures in the short-term.

Just when we thought Donald Trump had a bond in place to prevent NY from having to start seizing assets, the government is asking questions about whether or not this bond really has anything behind it. These are probably just a string of clerical errors that Trump can quickly resolve. But it does re-raise the stakes of our asset seizure bracket.

The former president finally followed through and paid the $175 million bond to secure — partially — the judgment against him in the NY civil fraud trial pending appeal. So, for now, the NY Attorney General doesn’t need to go grab Seven Springs or anything. Though the partial nature of the bond means that once Trump’s appeal collapses, there’s still going to be several hundred million dollars worth of judgment to go get.

The appellate division may have lowered Trump’s bond to a mere $175 million, but he has not, as of this writing, actually posted it yet. Maybe he really would rather the state seize his assets. Or maybe he still can’t get anyone to sign on to giving him $175 million and he’s banking on selling copies of the quintessential public domain document for $60 to make enough cash to cover it.

Specifically, the Seven Springs estate in Westchester. But we are not deterred because this bracket isn’t about which ones the state will seize but which one will piss him off.
