The European Olympic Committee (EOC) has officially selected the Italian city of Lignano Sabbiadoro to host the summer 2027 edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). The event marks a return to the coastal town, which last hosted the festival in 2005. On Friday, EOC President Spyros Capralos led a delegation of Olympic and sports officials at the signing ceremony, which took place at the Palace of the Regional Council in Trieste, on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in northern Italy.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport this week confirmed the four-year suspension of Colombian cyclist Miguel Ángel López, third in the 2018 Giro d'Italia and La Vuelta, after rejecting his appeal. The FIFA Council has unanimously approved the expansion of the Women's competition from 32 to 48 teams, starting with the 2031 edition. The United States are the only bidders to host the tournament, and the decision will be ratified in 2026 unless another is submitted in time.
