INTRODUCTION Voice disorders are quite common, with an estimated 1 in 13 adults in the United States reporting a voice problem annually.1 Many causes of dysphonia stem from glottic insufficiency, or the inability of the vocal folds to achieve optimal phase closure during phonation. Glottic insufficiency can occur secondary to vocal fold paresis, paralysis, atrophy, and scar.
