AN Air India aircraft ‘with 242 people on board’ has crashed in the city of Ahmedabad, India. The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick, according to Air India. The organisation said in a statement shortly after the crash, “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025.”It promised to provide further updates. PUBLIC primary health centres across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have remained shut for over two months, along with all public primary schools and the six area council secretariats. The closures are the result of an ongoing strike by workers demanding the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage approved by the federal government in 2024, as well as other outstanding entitlements.

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Aliyu Audu, has resigned. In a letter dated June 8 and addressed to the president through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Audu said his resignation took effect immediately. “I remain deeply grateful to you, Mr. President, for the opportunity to serve my fatherland under your visionary leadership. It has been an honour to contribute to the public communication efforts of this administration,” he wrote.

AKWA Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC)He joined the party on Friday, June 6, at the Government House in Uyo, the state capital, amid cheers by the APC governors who had stormed the state preparatory to the declaration. Eno defected to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after weeks of speculations by Nigerians that he was on his way to the party. The governor had attributed his defection to the crisis in the PDP.

MANY students writing the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are stranded in several states in Nigeria, including Osun and Kwara states, and will remain in examination halls till midnight, The ICIR was reliably informed by affected parents on Wednesday, May 28. Parents said their children told them the English Language paper they were supposed to write leaked, and the examination was delayed instead of being cancelled or rescheduled.
