The banners in Guthrie Center may look a little different now than they have before. Main Street Guthrie Center Director Lindsay Gilland says that this is because of their Hometown Heroes Banner Program. She mentions that these banners were purchased through the organization by the families of veterans, and were put up for Memorial Day. Gilland tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the banners will stay up through Veterans Day in November, and then something special will happen.

Midwest Partnership will be holding their first Business Owner Summer Summit on Thursday and Friday. Director Brenda Dudley says that BOSS 2025 will be a summit designed for small and mid-sized employers. She mentions that the guest speakers for the event include Iowa State University Athletic Director Jamie Pollard, Blue Compass Chief Executive Officer Drew Harden, Your Clear Next Step founder Sinikka Waugh and Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping founder Lance Farrell.

With warmer weather and summer moving in, the public pools around Guthrie County are preparing to open. According to Guthrie Center city officials, the Guthrie Center Aquatic Complex opened May 23rd, but with early morning cool temperatures, hasn’t been able to hold many morning swim sessions yet. Regular hours for the pool are from 1-4:45pm and 6-7:45pm, with morning swim from 6-7am when the pool is warm enough.

The Panora Public Library is ready for June to get started. Library Director Molly Alan says that they have many fun things planned for their patrons, both big and small. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about what may be the most important and popular activity coming up for youths. “Our biggest program for the month of June will be our Summer Reading Program. The theme is ‘Level Up at Your Library.’ So we will have programs every Friday in June.
