I am concerned by the lack of proper display of the U.S. flag in and around Sheridan, especially when it comes to displaying the flag at half-staff. Typically, when an order to display the flag at half-staff is issued, three vital pieces of information will be provided in that order:1. Why the flag is to be displayed at half-staff; 2. When it is to be lowered to half-staff; and 3. When it is to be restored to full-staff.

Twenty years ago, before all the shiny gold statues, platinum-selling albums, and critical acclaim, John Legend was an upstart singer and pianist, bouncing between Philadelphia and New York trying to get a record deal. Legend, born John Stephens and raised in Springfield, Ohio, had already appeared on a major-label album (on the track “Everything is Everything” from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill), so he knew how to interact with music industry royalty.

Many people assume I’ve been listening to jazz much of my life. It’s likely due to the amount of jazz I write about and curate for live shows, and how much of it I play in public (on the rare times that I DJ). But I didn’t get into the genre until my early 20s, and even then, I only knew the cornerstone albums: Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew, John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme, Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters. While those are great LPs, they weren’t the only ones breaking ground.
