PacificLight Power Pte Ltd (PLP), a subsidiary of Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen), is building a new 600-megawatt (MW) gas-fired plant on Singapore’s Jurong Island, which will feature the country’s first grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). According to the company’s latest approved timeline presented during its recent financial briefing, the new facility is scheduled to begin commercial operations by January 2029.

Buhawind Energy Northern Luzon Corp. (BENLC), a venture between PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC) and Denmark-based Copenhagen Energy Group (CE), is moving forward with its nearly 2,000-megawatt Northern Luzon Offshore Wind Project following key government approvals. PGEC, a member of the Yuchengco Group, said in a report to the bourse that BENLC received the Certificate of Energy Project of National Significance (CEPNS) from the Department of Energy (DoE) in April.
