I was so looking forward to being home this week. I’ve been out on the road for the last month, and I’m heading out again next week—this time to Dallas. But both my actual home and my “home within” felt upside down this week. One of those is easier to explain. I’m moving back into my home—or at least trying to—after living in a rental for the past year. But it’s the “home within” that felt the most disrupted.

In the movie Field of Dreams, Kevin Costner is asked, "Is this heaven?"His reply? “No, this is Iowa!"I thought of that quote earlier this week when I traveled to Iowa to talk about my book and women’s leadership. The other day, my granddaughter Eloise picked up my new book, I Am Maria, and said out loud, “This is my Mama G’s book about her pony. It says, ‘When I was a little girl, I learned how to trot… the end.’”I laughed when I heard her say this because, in many ways, this week on the road for me was about ending one chapter of my life and beginning another.
