The Atlanta Braves received a double dose of bad news on Monday. After MLB announced its 80-game suspension for outfielder Jurickson Profar, the Braves retroactively placed starter Reynaldo López on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. López, 31, gave up three earned runs, two walks and nine hits in his season-opening start Friday at San Diego. He was one of the Braves' top pitchers in 2024, his first season as a full-time starter since 2019.

Brandon Crawford, a two-time World Series champion with the San Francisco Giants, announced his retirement from baseball on social media Wednesday. A three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, Crawford left his mark on the Bay Area during 13 seasons. In June 2021, he became the franchise's all-time leader in appearances at shortstop with 1,326, breaking a record held by Hall of Famer Travis Jackson.

Major League Baseball on Monday announced an adjustment to the Tampa Bay Rays' 2025 schedule to mitigate the possible effects of weather on games at the outdoor Steinbrenner Field, where the team will play next season because of damage caused to Tropicana Field, their typical home park, last month. Rather than have the Rays host the Los Angeles Angels as originally planned in August, they'll now host that series from April 8-10.

The Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday announced they agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal with veteran catcher Travis d'Arnaud. The 35-year-old, who won the 2021 World Series with the Atlanta Braves and has spent almost the entirety of his career in the National League East, will presumably serve as a backup to Logan O'Hoppe. D'Arnaud was an All-Star in 2022, when he hit .268/.319/.472 over 107 games.
