The Perseid meteor shower is set to light up the sky tonight in what one expert has labelled as one of the most dramatic displays of the year. The meteor shower is set to occur between 11 and 13 August and amateur astronomers can expect to see up to 100 100 meteors, also known as shooting stars, per hour. The annual meteor shower is the debris left behind Comet Swift-Tuttle , which comes around every 20 to 200 years, and was last seen in 1992 (and in 1862, 1737 respectively).
