1 INTRODUCTION Informal (or unpaid) caregivers, typically family members or friends of older adults, represent a significant demographic in Canada and are an essential part of the healthcare team. Pre-pandemic, one in four Canadians aged 15 years or older, approximately 7.8 million people, reported providing care to a family member with a long-term health condition, disability, or aging-related needs (Statistics Canada, 2018).
