*The adage “everything old is new again” could not be truer than in cinema. “Karate Kid” is on its sixth outing with “Karate Kid: Legends.” And the stories of bullies getting their comeuppance never get old. The 1984 “Karate Kid” tells the story of Daniel LaRusso, a teenager who moves with his widowed mother to Los Angeles. There, LaRusso is persecuted by other boys.

*Tom Cruise has delivered a trifecta with “Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning.”  “Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning,” directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is superb. It not only offers the best in entertainment, it is timely and woke. It is also the type of movie the whole family can enjoy. *“Final Destination Bloodlines” succeeds where its other sequels failed. There was a reason why the 2000 “Final Destination” was such a success. It was a unique entrée into the horror genre. Twin brothers Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan) leave corrupt Chicago and return to their hometown. After arriving, they discover an even greater evil. The town Pastor’s words, “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home” sentiment echoes throughout.

*“A Minecraft Movie,” directed by Jared Hess, does exactly what is it is expected to do. That is to milk one of the best-selling video games for all its worth. The seemingly kid’s film also digs deep to arouse the interest of adults. The Vice Principal, Jennifer Coolidge, carnal cravings for Garet Garrison (Jason Momoa) in lustful language leaves nothing to the imagination.
