In November 2024, the Australian government passed a world-first law, banning children under the age of 16 from using social-media platforms — it will be enacted by the end of the year. As an expert in cyberbullying, I’m concerned. The effects of social media on young people are not black and white. Yes, some evidence points to a correlation between children’s social-media use and their current high levels of mental-health difficulties.

George is a domestic bunny who was found abandoned in a park. He is living with us temporarily until I can find him a new forever home.
