Dieciséis frailes franciscanos han hecho su profesión solemne y perpetua en Jerusalén, de manos del Custodio de Tierra Santa, fray Francesco Patton. Proceden de diez países diferentes y tres de ellos –Alejandro Pinzón Vinchery, Maikel Anjelo y Mervyn Gladstone Gómez– pertenecen a la Custodia de Tierra Santa, mientras que los demás pertenecen a otras provincias de la Orden de los Frailes Menores y se encuentran en Tierra Santa para realizar sus estudios.

In a conversation with CNA, Biboso’s eyes moistened as she recalled that day. Hamas fighters surrounded the house, shattered the windows, and set the home ablaze.

The convents of the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land in Lebanon are not extraneous to the wave of violence that has affected in particular the South of the country. The convents in Beirut, Harissa and Tripoli are not affected directly for the time being, while the convent in Tyre is in an area affected by the bombings and the need to help people fleeing from the South. Fra Najib Ibrahim is the Guardian of the convent in Harissa and delegate of the Custos of the Holy Land for Lebanon.

From 16 to 23 September, the Custos of the Holy Land, Fra Francesco Patton, took part in the celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, the seat of a community of the Custody as well as of the Commissariat of the Holy Land. During a lecture with benefactors, the Custos illustrated the situation that the friars and Christians are living in in the Holy Land, their needs, their fears and their hopes.

Los conventos franciscanos de la Custodia de Tierra Santa del Líbano no son ajenos a la ola de violencia que ha golpeado sobre todo al sur del país. Los conventos de Beirut, Harissa y Trípoli no han sido afectados directamente por el momento, mientras que el de Tiro se encuentra en una zona afectada por los bombardeos. Fray Najib Ibrahim es guardián del convento de Harissa y delegado del Custodio de Tierra Santa para el Líbano.
