The seizure of the largest-ever cocaine shipment transported via a narco submarine in Europe underscores the increasing sophistication and effectiveness of a method used by drug traffickers to move cocaine from South America. The Portuguese navy intercepted a submarine on March 25, which was carrying 6.5 tons of cocaine about 925 kilometers south of the Azores in the Atlantic Ocean.
