1 Introduction Pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD) is a disorder of chronic immune dysregulation within the gastrointestinal tract, and what was previously thought to be a Caucasian-predominant disease is now of emerging importance in the Asia-Pacific region [1]. In the last decade, PIBD has gained recognition as a significant disease in Asia, with emerging epidemiological data published from various countries.
