During his farewell address to Congress, General Douglas MacArthur said that old soldiers never die, they simply fade away. I’m not one to contradict an American General, but the idea that those who wear the uniform will eventually fade from our collective memory is unsettling. Those who died in service to our nation deserve to be remembered and revered. Those individuals and their loved ones made tremendous sacrifices.

Kovar is an emergency medicine physician in Conroe and is affiliated with multiple hospitals. Among his responsibilities is to oversee training for EMS providers as well as review the medical care that is provided.

Navarro County Commissioners accepted a $3,750 donation from the Navarro County 100 Club on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office, Tuesday during the Commissioners Court meeting, which was rescheduled in order to observe Memorial Day. The funds will be used to purchase additional ballistic shields.

Council holds goals, priorities workshop

The Corsicana city council, along with the city’s department heads, held a workshop to discuss the city’s goals Tuesday in order to work towards developing a shared vision and goals for themselves and the City of Corsicana. Tuesday’s meeting lasted six hours and was open to the public. It is expected to be the first in a series to further refine the priorities for city leaders in the coming weeks and months.

Navarro County Judge H.M. Davenport was in attendance to swear in Navarro College Trustees John Paul Ross, Faith Boyd and Loran Seely were sworn in during May’s Board Meeting. Corsicana ISD's Board of Trustees celebrated multiple achievements during Monday's final school year meeting. The board recognized head baseball coach Heath Autrey for the milestone of his 300th win with the program as he wrapped up his 14th season at the helm of the Tigers, leading the team to the Class 5A Region II Div.
