I admit I was surprised that you, my fellow citizens, decided to grant him a second term in the highest office in the land. He cares little for the average man, even less for the poor or displaced, and has profound moral and ethical problems. I recently binge-watched Steven Spielberg’s “Masters of the Air” and the accompanying documentary, “The Bloody Hundredth,” on Apple+ TV. Both are fabulous and worth watching, but this is not a review of either program. This is a warning.
Fascism was no joke then, and neo-fascism is no joke now. Watching these two programs (almost 10 hours of television), I could not help but draw comparisons between Nazi Germany then and America now.

The January 6th insurrection and the madman who instigated, cheerleaded, and inspired it is a third. It is a date that will live in infamy. Recently, I met a young Black couple at a party. I rarely discuss politics with people I don’t know, but one of them mentioned that they were upset at the lack of a “good choice” for president in 2024.

Many argue that over-zealous prosecutors have targeted Donald Trump for political reasons. He is the first former president to face criminal charges in a court of law. His supporters are quite willing to ignore the fact that Trump’s actions, inactions, and words may cross ethical, legal, and criminal lines. Does he only have himself to blame? One might easily argue that Judge Juan Merchan has treated Trump with kid gloves far better than he might treat an average citizen for similar behavior.
