Two prison officers have been bashed by an enraged bikie at a maximum security Melbourne prison. The Herald Sun has been told the pair were left unconscious when the outlaw motorcycle gang member launched his attack at the Metropolitan Remand Centre at Ravenhall on Saturday. Both officers were knocked to the ground and stomped on during the onslaught, described by a source as horrific. They were taken to hospital with what one source said were serious injuries.

Drug mules are increasingly being used to bring clothing impregnated with ice into Australia for transnational drug gangs. A number of recent busts in Melbourne and interstate has indicated syndicates are turning to the method as a way to get methamphetamine past border controls. Clothes are soaked in a meth solution by overseas criminals then brought into Australia by couriers on passenger flights or through cargo. The drug is then extracted from the fabric using a chemical process.

The stolen Porsche Cayenne was spotted by the Air Wing rocketing erratically along the Monash Freeway at 240km/h at about 4.20am on Monday. It was tracked to Huntingfield Rd in Toorak where police used stop sticks to deflate its tyres at 5am.

Municipal monitors have been extended at a scandal plagued council in Melbourne’s northwest, amid an ongoing anti-corruption probe. Local Government Minister Melissa Horne – who in January appointed monitors Prue Digby and Phillip Carruthers to oversee the conduct of Moonee Valley Council – on Sunday extended their tenure until February 28 next year.
