Accor has announced plans to rebrand the current Fairmont Peace Hotel under its luxury Raffles portfolio. The landmark Shanghai property was built by British businessman and hotelier Sir Victor Sassoon and first opened as the Cathay Hotel in 1929. It has been owned by the Jinjiang Group since 1984, and as we reported back in 2010 the hotel has been trading as the Fairmont Peace Hotel in recent years.

Eurowings is to launch a new business class seat designed for its longer medium-haul routes. The new Premium BIZ seat from Italian manufacturer Geven will be in addition to the carrier’s existing BIZclass option of extra legroom and the middle seat being kept free. The seat will debut on one of Eurowings’ A320neos from November (bookable from August), with eight seats in a 2-2 layout.

Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy have expanded their partnership to enable the conversion of miles into points. Members can now convert three Skywards Miles into two Marriott Bonvoy points, with a minimum conversion requirement of 3,000 miles. This adds to the existing ability to convert three Marriott Bonvoy points into one Skywards miles, with a bonus of 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points converted.
