A federal judge has denied a pregnant Columbus woman's request for a temporary restraining order that would, for a time, prevent her from being deported. Carmen Guerrero Sandoval is a citizen of El Salvador. She also has a 9-year-old child who was born in the U.S.A Cleveland immigration court had ordered Sandoval to report for deportation on June 3.

The city of Columbus filed suit in federal court challenging the Trump administration cuts to infectious disease programs. Those cuts resulted in Columbus Public Health laying off 11 infectious disease workers about a month ago, as measles cases have been reported across Ohio. In March, the Trump administration eliminated $11.4 billion in grants for infectious disease funding.

Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center is one of four regional centers affected by the Trump administration's decision to shut down a landmark federal project on women's health. Wexner Medical Center spokeswoman Marti Leitch said Thursday that the hospital's $5.1-million contract with the Women's Health Initiative ends in September. Leitch said the cut affects four positions. The hospital's research with the project included analyzing data from 10,000 women.

A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order for an Ohio State University graduate student who had their student visa revoked by the Trump administration. The order by U.S. District Judge Algenon Marbley said that U.S. Department of Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem and Acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Todd Lyons must reinstate Prisanna Oruganti's F-1 student visa. The order also prevent them from taking any other actions against her.
