Regulators are always blathering about how we must protect retail traders from themselves, as they lack the skills and knowledge to trade effectively and risk losing their life savings. But short selling 140% of the outstanding stock of a public company is just fine, apparently.

@WallStPlayboys The interesting thing is nobody is talking about that somehow shares were magically created and sold to further drive down the price with full expectation of never having to cover. Instead we hear about retailers rigging the market.

If I were running a hedge fund, I'd hire people with PhDs in physics and mathematics rather than people with PhDs in finance and economics (Renaissance Technologies comes to mind). The latter seems to have trouble with nonlinearities, randomness, tail risk, etc.

Great point. My first draft is always longer than the final draft, as I edit relentlessly. I know a writer has put in a ton of work into their piece when it's almost impossible to consider how it could have been written better. Every single word has its place and fits perfectly.

If these purges continue indefinitely, certain individuals may never find a job, apply for a credit card, host a website, obtain a business loan, etc. Those who are permanently banned from basic services may have no choice but to operate in a parallel economy.
