Costco Wholesale Corp. said its sales growth slowed in April, attributing the slowdown at least in part to the later Easter holiday this year. U.S. comparable-store sales were up 7.1% for the month, excluding gasoline, compared with April of last year. That marked a slowdown following comp-store sales growth of 8.6% in March. Costco’s U.S. comp-store sales have averaged about 9% during the last several months.

Ingles Markets reported declines in sales and net income for its fiscal second quarter, compared with a year ago, but the results showed some improvement from the first quarter as the company seeks to recover from the impact of Hurricane Helene. Net income fell about 52.7% in the second quarter, which ended March 29, to $15.1 million, compared with the year-ago second quarter. Sales were down 2.7%, to $1.33 billion.
