The start of the show was rampant with technical problems. There were problems with the curtain (an electrical cable was hooked around the main show curtain and the curtain kept hitting a prop hanging light). The show was paused as these problems were tended to.

She was an educator, co-founder of Epsilon Beta Sigma of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. and an advocate for literacy. In 1954, McGarrah graduated high school as the class salutatorian. She met her college sweetheart, Abraham, in 1954 on the campus of Tuskegee University in Alabama.
