by Mark Jardine 16 Jun 21:39 PDT
It was two years ago at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show that I talked to Dave Biggar about his ideas and plans for the Cure 55. At the 2025 show I got to step on board the yacht and see how his ideas became reality.

The X-Yachts Gold Cup Experience
by Mark Jardine 10 Jun 12:00 PDT
Having just returned from Haderslev, Denmark - which is the home of X-Yachts and played host to the X-Yachts Gold Cup 2025 - I was left wondering if this was a racing event, a rally or a social celebration amongst close friends. The reality is that it's all of these things, plus a bit more.
The event is now known as the 'Gold Cup Festival', and that additional word sums up nicely what it has become.

Should SailGP ditch the wings?
by Mark Jardine 5 Jun 03:48 PDT
As SailGP resumes in New York this weekend, we ask the question of whether the F50's solid wingsails should be ditched and replaced instead with twin-skin mainsails, in a similar way to what is used on the AC75 and AC40 of the America's Cup.
Have a watch and give us your thoughts!

America's Cup Power Plays and Growing Sailing Through Learning
by Mark Jardine 28 May 10:00 PDT
There's always so much speculation and intrigue in-between each edition of the America's Cup. Everyone wants to know what is happening behind closed doors, inside the teams, and when the Challengers meet with the Defender.
There are inevitable leaks, and sometimes deliberate misinformation put out there to see if a rival will bite and give away some vital piece of information.

Others may have had more to celebrate by the final whistle on Saturday afternoon, but I'd defy them to feel the same level of pride as inspired by the Saints and their efforts. I love this football club and they give me every reason to. The list of reasons why St Mirren should not have been challenging for Europe until the 95th minute of the final game of this campaign is long and familiar at this point, but I'll make no apologies for running through them once again.

Banger Racing, Back Racing and No Racing
by Mark Jardine 14 May 12:00 PDT
A real mix of news and events this week in sailing have caught my eye.
We start with racing on the cheap at the Colander Cup, then focus on a return to racing for the Aussies at the Youth Worlds, moving on to a complete lack of racing at the Women's ILCA 6 and Men's ILCA 7 Worlds, and then looking at how SailGP should be back out on the water in New York.

Exposure Marine Fastnet Race Kit Video Review
by Mark Jardine 14 May 06:30 PDT
It's a huge year for offshore sailing, and arguably the biggest event of the summer is the Rolex Fastnet Race. Within an hour of entries opening the Royal Ocean Racing Club had received a record 435 yacht registrations.
The fleet will include weekend racers, all the way up to the mighty Ultim trimarans, and the spectacle of them leaving the Solent is one not to miss.

The difference in mentality on show in Dundee on Saturday was something to behold. From the first whistle until the last, Stephen Robinson's side bore the unmistakable mark of a team who knew what was at stake. This should be no surprise for those who've watched the Buddies in the past three seasons. It was married with a clinical composure and creativity that made the performance all the more impressive. The Saints cut their opponents open at will and took full advantage.
