    A Dunedin principal agrees with the scrapping of a $130 million scheme aimed at helping schools work together, saying there is "no rigorous data" showing it works. A leaked report to RNZ showed the future of the $130m-a-year Kahui Ako programme was in doubt. In the report, Minister of Education Erica Stanford said the funding would be reallocated to support children with disabilities. Last week three Otago principals said the scheme had been hugely beneficial to the schools involved.

A police spokesman said the vehicles collided just before 1.30pm today in Warrender St and the road has been temporarily closed. One person was trapped and their were some injuries, he said. Fire and Emergency crews from Willowbank and Dunedin stations are attending and helping to with getting a person out of their car.
