    On Dec. 31, 2024, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) License Plate Office in Island Pharmacy in Manteo, shut its doors. And for the first time in more than 30 years, the county did not have a location to handle vehicle registrations and license plates as well as other DMV vehicle registration issues. But according to a DMV spokesperson, two people have now been selected to operate a new Dare License Plate office—to be located at 3809 N. Croatan in Kitty Hawk.
