For the family of Maddy Cusack, it's been a year filled with immeasurable pain. September 20th marks one year since the talented footballer took her own life but, for those loved ones she left behind, the fight for justice continues. Maddy's family allege that bullying at her club Sheffield United, where she played and worked, led her to take her own life. They maintain that she had no previous history of mental health issues but saw a steady decline throughout 2023.

Football fans will know all about the cult television show, which first aired in the 1990s called Dream Team. Set in the Midlands, it followed the exploits of a fictional Premier League club, Harchester United. The club had huge success and also incredible tragedy. Often, real-life goals were shown and mocked up in a way to make it seem like it was Harchester.

It is the week where the great and good of the tennis world descend on Nottingham - for those that compete it's the first foray of the season on the grass. In essence, the preparation for Wimbledon starts here. Other grass tournaments taking place at the same time include one in Stuttgart while the Birmingham Classic, a women's tournament, follows after. There's been some big winners here over the years and the British talent has done well.

In my time as a reporter, it's rare that I've covered cases involving multiple male victims - it highlights the growing issue with extortion. Young males are being duped by gangs based here and abroad into sending revealing photos and videos of themselves before being blackmailed for money.

Two years ago the netball world lost a significant player. When Wasps Rugby went bust, the effect was felt across sport with a knock on effect being Wasps Netball disbanding. Wasps had been one of netball superleague's most successful teams and was a huge loss to Coventry and the West Midlands. Severn Stars, based in Worcester were still there, but the gap left by Wasps' demise meant thousands of girls now lost the prospect of elite sport in the area and potential pathways.
