Strike 3: What’s happening with the Rockies this season is “unhealthy for baseball,” according to well-known national baseball writer Tim Kurkjian. While others disagree, and say there are always 100+ loss teams every season, the fact that the Rockies could be historically awful at the same time their division rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be historically great speaks volumes about the gap that currently exists between the haves and the have-nots in MLB.

Strike 2: While a few paper bags being used as headwear have been spotted at Coors Field recently, what’s more obvious is those in attendance wearing shirts emblazoned with “Sell the Team.”It’s a popular notion among fans and many in the media. Most folks would like to see the Monfort family sell the Colorado Rockies to someone who would put a greater emphasis on winning.

Strike 1: It was 30 years ago that Coors Field opened and the Colorado Rockies, in just their third season in existence, made the National League playoffs. They threw a scare into the eventual World Series champion Atlanta Braves in the postseason to boot. Fast forward to 2025. After Monday’s loss to the Chicago Cubs, the Rockies 9-45 record is the worst through 54 MLB games. Ever. What the heck has happened?

Strike 3: That’s it. No more NBA playoffs. The NHL ended around here a few weeks ago, and the Broncos don’t start real training camp action for more than two months. And yes, the team has plans to have fans in attendance at practice again this year. Hooray. But until then…There’s a sports viewing vacuum around here.

Strike 2: The 2018 Colorado Rockies won 91 games and beat the Chicago Cubs in the National League Wild Card game before falling to the Milwaukee Brewers in the Divisional round. Pretty sure most Rockies fans would love to be in that position in 2025. The Rockies management would love it too.

To the surprise of...no one.

Do my eyes deceive me or are there about three Yankees jerseys for every one Rockies jersey at Coors Field today? https://t.co/OGkRhtv8fj

Those of us who sat through the second inning of the ‘24 season opener in AZ refuse to call a 10 run inning “massive.”

The Yankees offense in the Top of the 5th vs the Rockies: Single, RBI-Double, Walk, Reach on Error, Walk, Sac Fly, RBI-Single, Sac Fly, Single, 2-RBI Double, Walk, RBI-Single, 2-RBI Double, K A massive 10-Run inning 🔥🔥 https://t.co/IOV5MjnXIN
