Weather conditions at Bukoba (Tanzania) Airport were much worse than the flight crew of the ATR 42-500 expected. After attempting a visual approach, they decided to hold near the airport until the conditions improved. Although the weather did not improve during a brief delay, the pilot-in-command (PIC) elected to try another visual approach.

The flaps were still not set for landing when the Learjet 45XR crossed the runway threshold more than 50 kt faster than the appropriate landing reference speed (Vref) and then touched down about midfield. The airplane was substantially damaged when it ran off the end of the wet runway. Both pilots sustained minor injuries, but none of the six people in the airplane was hurt.

While attempting to land from a grossly unstabilized approach to Karachi, Pakistan, the Airbus A320 flight crew apparently was unaware that the landing gear was not extended. Both engines were damaged and began leaking oil as the aircraft skittered down the runway at high speed. Finding the wheel brakes ineffective, the crew attempted to go around.

Despite the flight crew’s preparations for landing at the challenging private airport, the Phenom did not slow as expected after touchdown, and the pilot-in-command (PIC) steered it off the runway to avoid a cliff at the departure end. Neither pilot was injured, but the airplane was substantially damaged.
