RECORD numbers of jobless Scots say they don’t even want to work, official figures reveal. A staggering 810,400 people here are now classed as “economically inactive” - amounting to 22.9 per cent of the working-age population, compared to 21.6 per cent rate for the UK as a whole. Voters in Scotland are far more relaxed about politics than their English counterparts, who remain deeply angry about affairs of state, analysis suggests. Surveys conducted in the wake of the July general election found that 60 per cent of voters in England were cross about the state of British politics. Just 20 per cent of voters in Scotland expressed anger at the political system, amid evidence they are less nostalgic and more optimistic about the future than those in England.
