WBFF FOX 45, Sinclair Broadcast Group’s station in Baltimore, is pleased to announce that both the station and Project Baltimore’s Investigative Reporter Chris Papst will be honored by the Randallstown, MD NAACP chapter for their work focused on the education of children in the Baltimore area. WBFF and Papst will each be honored with an Excellence in Advocacy Award for their work covering education and public schools in the region.

The NBCUniversal Local FAST channels are growing, well, fast. The 11 ad-supported sites representing NBC stations, which include WNBC New York and KNBC Los Angeles, began their rollout in January 2022, and the four Telemundo regional channels debuted in November 2022. The Telemundo channels, Noticias Telemundo California, Noticias Telemundo Florida, Noticias Telemundo Noreste and Noticias Telemundo Texas, are collaborations between multiple owned stations.

Longtime ESPN communications chief CHRIS LAPLACA will retire at the end of the year after spending more than 43 years at the company. ESPN President JIMMY PITARO announced the news of LaPlaca’s impending departure earlier today in a memo sent to ESPN’s staff. LaPlaca, the company’s SVP/Corporate Communications, is the longest tenured behind-the-scenes employee currently at ESPN, having started there in July 1980 -- only nine months after the channel first went on the air.
