LISBON – Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union and its members have raised and distributed $23,260.70 for the CampaignFor Ending Hunger in 2024. More than $17,000 was recently distributed to Lisbon Area Christian Outreach of Lisbon Falls and almost $6,000 was given to St. Mary’s Food Pantry of Lewiston. Both organizations support the ongoing mission of feeding those facing food insecurity. The credit union’s biggest fundraisers last year were a fall Cash Calendar and a summer Basket Raffle.

LEWISTON — Norway Savings Bank recently gave the Center for Wisdom’s Women a $1,000 donation in support of its mission. The center, located at 97 Blake St. and greatly supported by volunteers, supports and empowers women survivors of addiction, trafficking and incarceration, offering holistic healing in a shared community that tends to the material and spiritual needs of women.

100 years ago: 1925“William Holman and Ernest Gullifer, drug clerks at the Riker Jaynes (Liggett’s) store, Lewiston, pleaded not guilty to charges of single sale of intoxicating liquor, Friday morning in the Lewiston municipal court. The hearings were continued to next Thursday, that the state and defense might have time to analyze several bottles of the tonic ‘Old Monticello,’ alleged to have been purchased by two Federal officials.
