A little over three weeks ago, in my last blog post, I mentioned that spring has been somewhat normal. But it sure has changed since that time! Do you realize Portland has only seen about a quarter inch of rain in the LAST 3 WEEKS? That’s exceptionally dry. April rain has swung wildly between wet and dry the last few years. Check out the swing from 2021 to 2022!This year most of the rain fell in the first week, but since that time I’ve seen the soil around my home steadily dry out.

    • None Showers remain in southern Oregon next two daysTemperatures have climbed rapidly and it’s a very nice “spring” day, although temperatures are more like what we would see in June. Portland will likely tie or exceed the 80° daily record high temp this afternoon. Portland averages 1 day at/above 80 each April, apparently today is the day! Skies remain partly cloudy through the evening and overnight; it’ll be warmer with the city only dropping down to around 50 degrees.

    • None Two more warm and sunny days• None Still no sign of a significant cool/wet spellAfter a chilly start, temperatures have jumped into the 60s this afternoon, running a few degrees above normal for late April. We are in a benign weather pattern with high pressure blocking weather systems from approaching the West Coast. The next approaching system heads mainly into California Friday and Saturday, leaving us with just a slight shower chance those days. That’s a drier forecast than 24 hours ago.
