A Hull man has been banned from keeping dogs for life after he posted "despicable" hunting videos on TikTok. Animal welfare charity The Naturewatch Foundation provided digital evidence to RSPCA Special Operations Unit investigators showing one dog fighting a badger underground, and another engaging with a fox. One of the dogs - a bull lurcher named Buddy - suffered severe injuries to his nose that were consistent with him fighting a badger.

Proposals for a 200-home development near Hull's St Stephen's Shopping Centre could "transform the area". Hull City Council is seeking views from residents on the plans for a residential scheme off Colonial Street. A two-week public consultation is set to begin next Monday with feedback being sought on the "exciting masterplan" that could "deliver much-needed new homes" in the area.

A main road in Grimsby town centre will be closed on Sunday. Osborne Street will be shut between 7am and 5.30pm on April 27 "due to a contractor operating a crane in the area to lift in a heavy piece of machinery to a business along Victoria Street West". A diversion route will be in place via Doughty Road and Garden Street. Victoria Street West will also close between Lloyds bank and Pizza Hut while the machinery is lifted into place. However, access will be maintained before and afterwards.

A treasure hunt has been launched across the East Riding with books hidden around the county to mark World Book Night. Led by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the scheme aims to inspire people to take up reading and celebrate the profound impact books can have. East Riding Libraries will release hints about the hidden books on their social media channels. Those who find a book are encouraged to share their discovery on social media using the hashtag #ERLFoundBook.

Goslings were taken from a Hull park but were thankfully later recovered, police have said. Humberside Police reported that the young geese were taken from East Park on Tuesday (April 22) "by a group of youths". On social media, a force spokesperson said: "After receiving a report of goslings being taken from East Park yesterday (22/04/2025) by a group of youths, Hull East neighbourhood officers were able to recover both of the goslings who were in a healthy and uninjured state.
