The quest for Banner 19 continues tonight as the second round series between the Celtics and Knicks tips in Boston. The Celtics are coming off a gentleman's sweep of the Magic while the Knicks got a stiff test from Detroit in Round 1. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the game to get here so we can stop hearing all the "bing bong" nonsense of how the Knicks could possibly play their way into this series.

The latest marketing idea out of the National Football League corporate offices in New York is to brand and monetize rivalries beginning in the 2025 season. The Shield is kicking off "Rivalries," a program where teams will wear special uniforms for select home games against rivals, and the New England Patriots have been selected as one of the league's Guinee Pig teams for the new program and the fresh threads it brings. Only the AFC East and the NFC West is participating during the 2025 season.

Cooper Flagg, the 18-year old Wooden Award-winning basketball phenom from Newport, finally declared for the NBA Draft yesterday after one year at Duke. Flagg averaged 19.2 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and 4.2 assists per game while guiding the Blue Devils to a Final Four run.

The defending NFC champion Eagles fly in to Foxborough this Sunday to kick off the 2023 season. It should be an absolutely electric atmosphere at Gillette, with Tom Brady in the house and the new massive scoreboard in place to serve as a sound wall and keep all the noise inside the stadium. But how much will the Pats give the fans to cheer for? Do we really have any idea yet?

From now until the middle of February, there is NFL football each and every week. Oh, how sweet that is. The 2023 season kicks off Thursday night when the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Detroit Lions, who believe it or not have the 9th-best odds to win Super Bowl LVIII. To no surprise, the two teams that met in Super Bowl 57 last February are the favorites to get back there in the Chiefs (+600) and the Eagles (+750), according to Caesar's Sportsbook.

The New England Patriots are certainly all-in on Mac Jones, because the picture behind the QB1 is getting murkier each day. As of the NFL's cut day deadline, Mac was the only QB left standing in Foxborough as Bailey Zappe and Malik Cunningham were both waived. After none of the other teams bothered to place a claim on either player, they returned to the Patriots practice squad.
