The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is legendary for the volunteer-centric culture of its annual AirVenture extravaganza in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, set for July 21-27 this year. But even a full-on effort by volunteers cannot do it all, so EAA is hanging out the “Help Wanted” sign. The association is looking for more than 750 temporary workers for positions involving retail sales, security, event support, auto parking, camper registration – even bartending.

NORAD jets intercept Russian military aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone on July 24, 2024. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) said it monitored and intercepted six Russian military aircraft near the Western Aleutian Islands earlier this week. According to a Canadian Armed Forces spokesperson, all six aircraft remained in international airspace.

The two-place Aura Aero Integral E all-electric airplane has completed its first inverted flight, said to be a “major step” on the road to certification. The Integral E is one of three aircraft in the Integral line, together with the already European-certified Integral R taildragger and the Integral S nosewheel version. Both of the latter are gasoline-engine powered. The Integral E is said to be the first all-electric aerobatic aircraft.

In Col. Robert Scott’s book “God Is My Copilot,” he relates his experiences serving with the American Volunteer Group in China, better known as the Flying Tigers. Scott was not an official member of the group. Rather, he was assigned as a transport pilot, but talked AVG leader Gen. Claire Chennault into “loaning” him a P-40 to help protect the cargo aircraft.
