    Lakeland, Florida FBO Sheltair and fuel supplier Avfuel have combined to donate a total of more than $21,000 to the Aviation Center for Excellence (ACE) located on Lakeland Linder International Airport and the Tampa Bay Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. The donations are derived from fuel sales at this year’s Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo, held April 1-6. This is the fifth year that Sheltair and Ann Arbor, Michigan-based Avfuel have combined to support ACE through fuel sales.

    Air traffic at Albuquerque, New Mexico International Sunport (KABQ) was shut down for a time today (June 26) after a fire alarm went off at the off-airport Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center. The FAA initiated a traffic ground stop when the Center was evacuated due to the alarm. It was subsequently determined that the alert was a false alarm and controllers returned to their posts. The ground stop was lifted at 2:05 pm local time.

    Beta Technologies announced today (June 26) that helicopter tour operator FlyNYON has committed to buy up to five of its Alia eVTOL (electric Vertical Takeoff and Land) aircraft. FlyNYON conducts charter and photo tourism flights around New York City. Terms of the commitment were not specified.

    An American Airlines Airbus A321 returned to Harry Reid International Airport (KLAS) in Las Vegas yesterday (June 26) shortly after takeoff with one engine smoking and “sparking.” American acknowledged in a statement that Flight 1665 returned to the airport with a “mechanical issue.” There were no injuries and the aircraft taxied to a gate where passengers deplaned without further incident.

    Northrop Grumman announced today (June 6th) it has conducted a full-scale static fire of what it calls “the world’s largest and most powerful segmented solid rocket motor built for human spaceflight.” The testing on NASA’s Booster Obsolescence and Life Extension (BOLE) solid rocket booster represents the first demonstration of the enhanced five-segment solid rocket motor.
