EAA Posts 'Help Wanted' for AirVenture 2025

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is legendary for the volunteer-centric culture of its annual AirVenture extravaganza in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, set for July 21-27 this year. But even a full-on effort by volunteers cannot do it all, so EAA is hanging out the “Help Wanted” sign. The association is looking for more than 750 temporary workers for positions involving retail sales, security, event support, auto parking, camper registration – even bartending.

NORAD jets intercept Russian military aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone on July 24, 2024. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) said it monitored and intercepted six Russian military aircraft near the Western Aleutian Islands earlier this week. According to a Canadian Armed Forces spokesperson, all six aircraft remained in international airspace.
Integral E, First All-Electric Aerobat, Performs First Inverted Flight

The two-place Aura Aero Integral E all-electric airplane has completed its first inverted flight, said to be a “major step” on the road to certification. The Integral E is one of three aircraft in the Integral line, together with the already European-certified Integral R taildragger and the Integral S nosewheel version. Both of the latter are gasoline-engine powered. The Integral E is said to be the first all-electric aerobatic aircraft.

In conjunction with the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) initiative, the FAA announced today it is calling on pilots, aircraft owners, mechanics, and fixed-base operators (FBOs) to document and report their experiences with “a new, high-octane unleaded aviation fuel available at various airports across our nation.” Though not named in the announcement, presumably, that refers to General Aviation Modifications Inc.’s (GAMI) G100UL fuel.

On Sunday (April 13), Jason Costello, director of operations for New York Helicopter Charter, agreed by email to voluntarily suspend operations at a request from the FAA. Within 16 minutes, Michael Roth, CEO of NY Helicopter notified the FAA that the agreement to suspend operations had been reversed and Costello was no longer an employee. The FAA’s telephone request to Costello on Sunday followed last Thursday’s fatal accident involving one of the operator’s Bell 206L LongRangers.
Cessna 310 Down In Florida; All Three On Board Killed

A Cessna 310R light twin crashed approximately 13 minutes after takeoff from Boca Raton Airport (KBCT) in Florida. All three on board were killed. According to news reports, sources say the pilot reported a rudder-related control issue. As seen on ADS-B Exchange, it made a series of nine, widening left-circling maneuvers in an apparent attempt to return to KBCT. The Cessna is registered to a Wilmington, Delaware limited liability corporation, Reprop LLC.
Textron Announces Upgrade For CJ4 Light Jet Line

Textron Aviation unveiled today its latest newest variant, the Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen 3. The announcement comes on the 15th anniversary of the service entry of the first of the CJ4 line. More than 450 CJ4s are currently in operation, according to Textron. The Gen 3 version is expected to enter service next year. New features will include Garmin G3000 PRIME avionics; Garmin Emergency Autoland technology; and Garmin Autothrottles.
