A Mark Carney Liberal government would have to bring in nationwide rent control to get the NDP’s support for its first budget after the April 28 election, the Star has learned. It will be among several requirements laid out by Jagmeet Singh’s New Democrats in the party’s platform, which will be released Saturday, as a condition for their support for the next government, according to an NDP source, who was granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the details publicly.
