So far, so good. The 2020s are shaping up to be great for anime. Not only are Japanese shows more accessible than ever, but they are also (essentially) never-ending. As each season produces about 40 anime, roughly 800 series have released content over the last few years, a figure that will expand to about 2000 once the decade comes to an end.

Love or hate them, isekai anime's popularity cannot be denied. Using the current year as an example, 2025 will see the release of more than 20 new stories that cover this theme, and that number does not even take into account sequels. Even all these decades later, the manga and anime hold up as all-time greats that can still be enjoyed by folks who do not have any nostalgia for them.

Isekai is a staple of the anime industry by this point. Love it or hate it, the concept is popular enough to warrant multiple representatives in each season. While not every story goes down this route, isekai anime with OP main characters are pretty much inescapable, to the point that they are largely synonymous with each other. While getting a lot of hate due to being overexposed, these shows can be wildly entertaining when they are executed well.
