    Isekai is a staple of the anime industry by this point. Love it or hate it, the concept is popular enough to warrant multiple representatives in each season. While not every story goes down this route, isekai anime with OP main characters are pretty much inescapable, to the point that they are largely synonymous with each other. While getting a lot of hate due to being overexposed, these shows can be wildly entertaining when they are executed well.

    While not necessarily the most universally loved genre, isekai anime is pretty much inescapable nowadays. Each new season tells a couple of stories that involve protagonists traveling (or reincarnating) in another world, and a few of them tend to be pretty good or even great. As the definitive anime streaming service in North America, Crunchyroll includes the largest (legal) selection of isekai series.

    The anime industry never sleeps. Every season contains roughly 40 shows, nearly all of which release 12 or 13 episodes over three months. In just 2025, around 2000 episodes will hit streaming services, and that is not counting things like movies, OVAs, ONAs, etc. There is so much anime out there, that picking something to watch can become straight-up frustrating, especially for people who do not stick to seasonal releases. What are the best anime to start watching right now?

    Isekai anime has been around for a very long time, with shows like Digimon Adventure and The Vision of Escaflowne debuting more than a decade before Sword Art Online propelled the idea into superstardom. Despite attracting a lot of criticism nowadays, isekai's popularity cannot be denied, and every season includes a few shows that involve characters being sent to another world (including Earth).

    As My Hero Academia prepares for season 8, which is set to debut towards the end of 2025, the franchise is keeping itself busy by taking a trip to the past. Launching in 2016, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is a spin-off and prequel set a few years before the start of the main story, and it follows three characters who want to do good but lack a powerful enough quirk to serve as Pro Heroes.
