The Chancellor's Budget on 30 October 2024 included far-reaching proposals restricting the IHT reliefs available for agricultural property (Agricultural Property Relief (APR)) and interests in businesses (Business Property Relief (BPR)), taking full effect from 6 April 2026. Recognising that there would be implications for trusts, a consultation on the application of these restrictions to trusts was also announced.

Following on from the restrictions to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief (BPR) announced in the Chancellor's Budget on 30 October 2024, HM Revenue & Customs published, on 27 February 2025, an open consultation on how these changes will apply to trusts. While a consultation is just that, in practice we learn much about the direction of travel and likely shape of the new rules when they take effect on 6 April 2026.

MADISON – Work is underway to reduce the size of the ice sheet at the Kohl Center, a change that will allow the Wisconsin athletic department to create more premium seating in the 26-year-old arena. The sheet will go to the NHL dimensions of 200 feet by 85 feet. The ice was 97 feet wide. Previously UW was one of five NCAA Division I arenas with a rink size larger than 200-by-92. The reduction creates 6 feet of additional space on each side of the ice.
