Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader and we leave you with a new song by Canada’s Mariel Buckley who we have covered previously around these parts and whose latest single ‘Vending Machines’ marks the beginning of a new sonic and individual chapter. While familiar, darker instrumentation and themes are sprinkled throughout her new record, she shares: “I was itching to try something a little heavier than my previous stuff.

Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader, and it’s good to be back after my Colombia travails although I do miss the feeling of being in a country governed by someone who feels vaguely relatable. You win some! We leave you this week with a new song by a band we haven’t featured for ages here on AUK – Lord Huron who have a new album out in July, more details next week.

Well that’s it from us for another week dear reader. In our Back Pages feature this week which Paul Kerr lovingly pulls together from time to time he referenced a bonus track on one of our old CD compilations by early-2000s Irish band The Thrills who on a quick search I cannot believe we’ve ever mentioned once in the last decade.

Well that’s it from us for another week and we leave you dear reader with a new video from arguably the greatest singer-songwriter Australia has ever produced (with the possible exception of Barry Humphries). ‘Hello Melancholy, Hello Joy’ is taken from last year’s album “Fever Longing Still” which AUK’s Graeme Tait waxed lyrical about at the time of its release. As Paul notes, “It’s based on the memory game where you turn up cards to try and match pairs.

Chappaquiddick Skyline was released following the Pernice Brothers’ critically acclaimed Sub Pop debut “Overcome by Happiness”.

Well that’s it from us for another week and we leave you dear reader with a new video for a song from the new album by Charley Crockett “Lonesome Drifter” which we glowingly reviewed earlier this week, saying that “This vibrant, confident and thoroughly engaging record may just be his best so far.” Pick of the crop for me is this tune which trundles along nicely before a banjo kicks in midpoint and the tempo moves up a notch, as always the video is a hoot too.
