One of Gwinnett County’s many growing suburbs, Suwanee lies between Duluth and Buford on the I-85 corridor. And like those cities, Suwannee is home to a growing array of food, fun and families compared to its humble beginnings. The town began as a Cherokee settlement named Shawnee, many years before white settlers established their town with a similar name in the 1800s.

Located northeast of Atlanta in Gwinnett, the city of Snellville has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Sitting at the crossroads of US-78 and Georgia 124, Snellville started as a mercantile spot and remains a great place to visit and live today. And while this suburban city may only be a little over a decade old, its history goes back much longer. Plantation pioneer John L. Evins settled in the area in the early 1800s. While few families lived in modern Brookhaven for much of the century, summer homes and a country club were established by the early 1900s.

Located just north of Atlanta near the junction of the I-28 Perimeter and GA-400, Dunwoody is a booming suburb with a growing number of hot spots for families and foodies alike. Established in the early decades of the nineteenth century — on land the Cherokee tribe called home along the Chattahoochee River — Dunwoody is named for Major Charles Dunwody.
