A 2022 research from the World Economic Forum (WEF) suggests the emissions‘ benefit from electric vehicle use is being eradicated by the growing number of sport utility vehicles on the road.

Европейская комиссия предлагает отложить на год принятие постановления по борьбе с вырубкой лесов в глобальном масштабе. Соответствующий закон призван регулировать выход на европейский рынок и экспорт продукции, производство которой способствует обезлесению и вырубке лесных массивов. В основном это касается кофе, сои, какао, пальмового масла и древесины. В Европейской комиссии инициативу по отсрочке принятия закона объясняют, в частности, неравномерной готовностью стран и отраслевых групп.

The EU executive appeared to bow to the inevitable when it proposed on Wednesday a 12-month delay to a law that would require suppliers of palm oil, timber, coffee, beef and other commodities to prove their production did not entail forest clearance or lose access to the EU market from the end of the year. The move came after months of increasingly vociferous calls from business and farming lobbies and key trading partners including the US and Brazil – and the reaction was swift.
