High-profile shortages of amoxicillin, cancer drugs, and medications to treat attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) have put drug shortages in the headlines over the past year. Less visible but equally alarming have been shortages of lifesaving emergency drugs such as atropine and epinephrine. Many of these shortages are persistent. These shortages throw into question the reliability of the U.S. drug supply chain.
