Irish filmmaker Brendan Canty’s debut feature Christy will open the 24th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Romania’s Cluj-Napoca on June 13.
The coming-of-age-story had its world premiere in the Berlinale’s Generation 14plus section where it won the section’s Grand Prix for best film.

The Silver Bear grand jury prize went to Gabriel Mascaro’s The Blue Trail, whilst the Silver Bear jury prize went to Ivan Fund’s The Message.

Germany’s Studio 100 Film has sealed multiple deals for animated films Miss Moxy and North ahead of the European Film Market.
All rights have been sold for Belgian filmmaker and visual artist Vincent Bal’s Miss Moxy, co-directed with Wip Vernooij, to Poland (Nowe Horyzonty), UK/ Ireland (Dazzler), Bulgaria (Profilms), Hungary & Romania (ADS-Services), Czech Republic & Slovakia (Donart), former Yugoslavia (Blitz), and Portugal (Outsider Film).

The future of Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors programme beyond 2028 has been thrown into doubt following a decision by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to slash its annual $2.2m (CHF 2m) budget for all of its strategic partnerships with Swiss cultural institutions from 2029.
