Rather than letting delegates find screen solace in the confines of a guest room, however, conference travel planners may soon be able to source hotels with an e-sports theme to help their digital savvy delegates unwind and bond. Planners might event adapt e-sports to a team building activity or as part of an itinerary.

HONG KONG Tourism Board executive director Dane Chang, who pioneered recent renewed campaigns to boost tourism in the city, is not renewing his contract with the government agency, it has emerged. No announcement has yet been made by HKTB or the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Culture, Sport and Tourism Bureau, but South China Morning Post reporters revealed the move after spotting a job advertisement seeking a new executive director.

ICCA’s latest rankings reflect an increasingly competitive global marketplace for association meetings with Tokyo, Singapore and Seoul singled out as strong destinations in Asia for attracting tech events. The International Convention and Congress Association released its 2024 research findings this week at IMEX Frankfurt with rankings based on the number of ICCA-recognised meetings having taken place in each destination.

MALAYSIA Convention and Exhibition Bureau has confirmed Tan Mei Phing as its chief executive after she served in the acting-CEO role for the past six months following the resignation of her predecessor. Tan’s appointment comes as MyCEB prepares to exhibit at Imex Frankfurt, which takes place May 20-22. The move makes her the bureau’s first female chief executive. She stepped up to the acting-CEO role in August 202 5after the departure of Azman Tambi Chik who had been in the role less than a year.

A 2036 Working Group is at the heart of a newly formed committee under the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong to make that dream a reality.
