EVENT organisers in one of China’s designated regions for rapid economic development have signed up to use space at a complex in the Greater Bay Area being revitalised as a conference, leisure, dining and retail facility. Members of the Live Events Association (ILEA) Asia Chapter joined business owners from Macau, Hengqin and Zhuhai at a launch ceremony this week for the “Macau Hong Kong Hengqin Hub” – or MHH Hub.

PUTTING a debut business events show together usually takes most organisers at least a year, but Connect Marketplace Hong Kong did it in less than four months – from concept to the event’s opening yesterday. Though an Informa-owned series of shows in North America sharing the brand name might have helped, the feeling among senior executives at organisers Informa Markets Asia is that Connect Marketplace will become rooted in the city to serve MICE organisers across East Asia.

ORGANISERS of a new business events show in Hong Kong are preparing to welcome more than 5,000 international buyers to AsiaWorld-Expo next week. The event “ushers in a new era for the MICE industry in Asia”, according to Informa Markets Asia, which is organising Connect Marketplace Hong Kong, March 19-21. The debut is a Hong Kong edition of Informa’s successful Connect Marketplace series of shows for business event professionals in North America.
