Northern Trains is looking to recruit new drivers and conductorsRail operator Northern has begun a recruitment drive to take on more than 300 new staff. The company wants to hire 108 drivers and 198 conductors and said no previous experience was necessary. Training will take place in Manchester and Leeds but jobs are available across the North, including in Newcastle, Darlington, Barrow-in-Furness and York.

A night bus service is being launched to help people reach a regional airport for early morning flights. It is hoped shift workers and holiday makers will use the service linking Newcastle city centre to the airport, as well as locations on the western side of the city. The six-month trial, operated by Stagecoach, will begin on 24 March and run from 02:50 to 05:20 GMT each day.
