On Wednesday, the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office believes that justice was served. Honorable Judge Christopher Able sentenced Patrick Alexis, 40, of Albertville, to the maximum sentence allowed by law following a jury’s conviction back in April. Alexis was sentenced to 20 years for Domestic Violence in the 2nd Degree and Life in prison for Sexual Torture.

Five Marshall County graduates who are part of the Jax State A Cappella Choir just got back from a trip of a lifetime as the choir was invited to compete at the CantaRode International Choral Festival in The Netherlands from May 29 to June 1. It marked the group’s first-time touring Europe since it was founded in 1960. CantaRode is held every two years in Kerkrade, a Dutch town near the German and Belgian borders.

The community has been shaken as a well-known teacher and coach has been arrested on rape and sexual assault charges. According to an official press release from the Boaz Police Department, on Thursday, June 6, the department was contacted about a sexual assault. During the investigation, the 14-year-old female victim identified the suspect as William Brock. On the morning of June 6, the suspect was taken into custody on a traffic stop.

On Saturday, May 31, around 6:00 a.m., the Albertville Police Department responded to a report of a missing 17-year-old female. The juvenile’s parents reported that their daughter and her cell phone were missing from the residence when they woke up, and she did not have permission to leave the home.

While many first graders are busy playing their summer away, six-year-old Ruby Jean of Boaz has her sights set on being the next Jr. Ranger. The new Jr. Ranger Competition is part of the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) that wants to give one young adventurer a chance to win $20,000, learn from wildlife expert Jeff Corwin and be featured in the Ranger Rick Magazine as the 2025 Jr. Ranger. And right now, this Boaz Elementary School student is sitting in 4th place in the competition.
