At a time when new developments seem to be popping up everywhere, the mission of the Indian River Land Trust to protect and preserve natural spaces, wildlife habitats and our most scenic landscapes is increasingly vital. Some of the Land Trust’s most ardent benefactors gathered at the Quail Valley River Club to speak about the importance of those efforts during the annual Conservators’ Reception, hosted this year by Dick and Sally Brickman and Ned and Sherry Ann Dayton.

Ray and Mandy Hooker, owners of Indian River Distillery, teamed up with the Cultural Council of Indian River County to release its limited-edition Paradise Spirit Vodka, during a Roaring ’20s-themed fundraiser, the Art of Distilling. The bottle’s label and name had been kept under wraps until that evening, when it was revealed that Merana Cadorette’s artwork had been selected for the label following a community-wide competition.

Waldo E. Sexton, one of Vero’s most famous pioneers, was renowned for the diverse collection of artworks that continues to highlight his numerous properties, including the homestead he built more than a century ago. Now known as Waldo’s Secret Garden, the popular wedding venue showcased his own eclectic assortment of artworks alongside those of Treasure Coast artists at the second annual Waldo’s Secret Art Walk.
